Particle damage
Particle weapons can only be countered with particle shields and armor plating. As long as the particle shield (blue bar) has more energy than the penetrating power of the weapon, the projectile will be absorbed by the shields. A particle weapon will always do its maximum damage on a shield. This means a weapon with a penetrating power of 15 will drain 15 shield points on every hit.
If the object (ship, space station, planet) which is under attack has left less particle shield energy than the penetrating power of the projectile or there is no shield at all, the projectile will impact. The damage which is taken in form of hit points is calculated as follows:
Damage = Penetrating power / Armor
As you can see, regardless of how high the armor is, a ship will always take damage. Armor doesn't diminish.
Particle shields have the ability to recharge while in battle depending on the type of shield and auxiliary modules till it reaches its maximum load.
Energy shields and surface shields offer no protection against particle weapons!
