The Ship Modules of the Grogg

The ship modules upgrade the abilities of space ships. The different modules define the main purpose of a ship – such as a transporter or a battleship. There is a suitable module for every occasion available.

While the modules help the Grogg to protect themselves and their assets from enemies, these also raise the efficiency of their trading capabilities. The Grogg have worked long and hard on the module technologies to achieve a state which fulfilles their expectations in every aspect.

The modules can be mounted just like other systems in the slots of a space ship. The only difference is that these extra slots are within the ship.

The Special Modules

EMP

This module once enabled interferes with the sensible controls and electronic systems of a space ship and disables these temporarily.

More than often a couple seconds are sufficient to rescue the valuable wares into safety. Damaging the electronic systems of an aggressor can also lead to them being the one looted, turning the hunter into the prey.

EMP Diverter

Connected to the outer hull, this module can neutralize the effects of an electromagnetic pulse. This module renders the spaceship immune to EMP attacks.

A ship that is fitted with this equipment is a lot harder to plunder. Being a very cheap module to acquire it should be a part of the standard equipment.

Energy Shield

Through a powerful localized energy field centered on the spaceship the module has the ability to protect the spaceship from energy weapons.

The transporters are usually equipped with these shields to give them protection from energy weapons.

Generator

A generator supplies the ship with the necessary energy. Especially when utilizing equipment such as energy shields that have a high energy consume rate the available energy usually is not sufficient anymore.

Because the transportation module and resource silo need very minor amounts of energies the Grogg have unfortunately failed to keep up with the other races when it comes to powerful generators.

Invasion Module

For a hostile takeover of a planet, these modules are used. This module is a one-time use module.

Taking a planet that has already been built is very profitable which justifies the cost of this aggressive technology.

Colonization Module

Habitation of empty planets is only possible with the use of the module. Since on arrival the module unpacks and uses all the necessary equipment it is disposed of afterwards.

Whoever colonizes a planet can turn it into a flourishing profit driven heaven.

Hull Shield

Simple polarization of the hull of a ship gives it a low cost protection from energy weapons – even though the energy shield may collapse the polarization serves as an additional layer of protection.

Light energy weapons can be neutralized with the use of this module successfully.

Armor Plate Module

The simplest yet efficient way to defend a spaceship versus particle weapons is equipping it with massive armor plates.

While being cost efficient it supplies the ship with some defense against particle based attacks.

Particle Shield

The counterpart of the energy shield protects the ship from attacks with projectile and particle weapons. The technology creates a repellent field that repels all physical objects.

Energy shields do not offer any protection versus particle weapons the way the particle shield does.

Resource Silo

Within this resource silo it is possible to transport large amounts of raw materials between planets.

Raw materials have a lower profit range than a finished product. This is why the resource silo should only be used to distribute the raw materials to the industrial planets.

Shield Amplifier

The shield amplifier speeds up the regeneration of any type of built in shield systems. It doesn’t offer any protection or whatsoever though.

If the shields of a ship can regenerate faster than they can be destroyed the ships ware is perfectly secured.

Self Repair

Ships that have this module are able to repair themselves whilst flying to their destination.

To avoid long downtimes in repair facilities, most of the ships get repaired while flying.

Self Destruction

Overloading the reactor of a spaceship leads to the destruction of it and its cargo so that nothing worthwhile is left over.

Almost standard on every transport ship, this module prevents the pirates from getting the valuable wares.

Subspace Disruptor

By disrupting the subspace structure this module prevents enemy ships from escaping into the star roads.

It is a tradition under Grogg to plunder transporters. Using this module they prevent their prey from escaping.

Transportation Module

To be able to store finished products or wares within spaceships, these modules are needed to ensure the safety of the items being transported.

The transportation modules of the Grogg have probably the highest technology in the whole universe. It is no wonder when one pays attention to the incredible amounts of wares they transport using these.
